Wellbeing IN School

Healthy lifestyle in and out of school
At WINS, students’ wellbeing is central to everything we do.
We believe that a safe, caring, and supportive environment is the foundation for meaningful learning. The Healthy Schools accreditation is a testament to our deep commitment to nurturing not only academic growth but also emotional, mental, social, and physical wellbeing.
As Dr. Linda Darling-Hammond notes, “Learning doesn’t happen without the presence of safety and belonging.” When students feel seen, supported, and valued, they are far more likely to engage fully, take intellectual risks, and thrive. At WINS, we cultivate this environment every day—because wellbeing isn’t an add-on, it’s the starting point.
The Healthy Schools Status accreditation underlies the English National Healthy School Programme principles and is aligned with the current Ofsted guidance. The areas included in the framework and covered throughout all year-grades are:
- PSHE – personal, social, health and economic & RSE – relationship, sex education
- Physical Activity – principles and practices to support the overall wellbeing
- SEHM – social, emotional and mental health
- Healthy Eating – principles and practices of good, balanced nutrition
